How our tools work

Our tools are usually at least two-part and are mounted in the press as follows:

  • Upper tool part: Screwed into the 1/4"–20 UNC thread in the head of the press.
  • Lower tool part: Inserted into the 12 mm bushing of the press. All our presses have this 12 mm fitting.

When used, both tool parts each hold a component of your item (e.g., the cap of a snap fastener at the bottom, spring part at the top). When the lever is operated, the tool halves guide and press the parts together form-fittingly, resulting in a clean, durable finish.

Note on third-party presses: Other manufacturers may deviate from the 12 mm bushing. Suitable adapters can be found in our accessories.

Assignment: Consumable → Tool → Press

Principle: First, select your consumable (e.g., snap fastener, eyelet, hollow rivet, covered button). Then choose the tool with the identical size and type designation. Finally, check whether your press is suitable.

Assignment follows the product: The required tool always exactly matches your consumable in size and type.

Example: If you want to process 15 mm S-spring snap fasteners, you need a 15 mm S-spring snap fastener tool. Material and color of the consumable do not affect the tool choice.

Features

All tools in this category share some key features that are important for your selection.

Thread & fitting

All tools in this category are matched to our presses.

  • Upper tool part with 1/4"–20 UNC thread
  • Lower tool part for a 12 mm bushing
  • All our presses have this 12 mm fitting

Tools for presses with M6 or M8 thread are listed separately under Tools for third-party presses.

Size and type binding

Tools are always size-specific and type-specific to the respective consumable.

  • The tool must be the same size as the product size
  • Type differences (e.g., Jersey, S-spring, Ring-spring / single or double head) are reflected in the tools
  • The type selection is made directly on the tool product page

Compatibility & systems

Our tools are part of a system consisting of consumable, tool, and press. For a clean result, all three components must fit together.

  • For our presses: All tools in this category fit our presses with 1/4"–20 UNC thread and 12 mm bushing.
  • DIN eyelet tools: Tools for DIN eyelets can only be used in the spring-strike press and the toggle press.
  • Third-party presses: If your press has an M6 or M8 thread, please use tools for third-party presses.
  • Adapters & accessories: For different fittings and special situations, you will find suitable solutions in accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tools

How do I choose the right tool for eyelets, snap fasteners, or hollow rivets?

The starting point is always the consumable you want to process. Follow these three steps:

  1. Choose consumable: First decide whether you want to process eyelets, snap fasteners, hollow rivets, or covered buttons.
  2. Determine series and size: Each consumable product page describes the series, diameter, and if applicable, the required hole diameter. Note these details.
  3. Choose tool in the matching variant: In the tools category you will find the suitable tool for each series and size – usually with information on supported press(es) and thread.

This ensures that consumable, tool, and press fit together technically.

How can I tell if a tool fits my press?

Key criteria are thread, fitting, and design. On the tool product pages you will find information such as:

  • Thread size (e.g., M6, M8, 1/4"),
  • compatibility notes with certain press models,
  • possible adapter solutions.

The technical data of the presses are described in the presses category. If thread and fitting match, you can usually use the tool with your press. When in doubt, a quick comparison of the tool and press information helps.

What is the difference between EasyFix tools and press tools?

EasyFix tools are usually designed for manual processing or with simple aids (e.g., setting tool, hammer). They are suitable for occasional use, small quantities, or situations where no stationary press is available.

Press tools are designed for use in a press. They are screwed in or inserted and allow reproducible, powerful processing – ideal for series production, professional applications, and more sensitive materials.

Whether a tool is intended as an EasyFix variant or as a press tool can be seen in the description on the respective product page.

Do I always need a separate hole tool before setting eyelets or rivets?

In many cases, yes. To ensure eyelets, hollow rivets, and snap fasteners sit cleanly, the material is first prepared with a hole tool matching the system.

The product pages of consumables and tools describe which hole diameter is needed and which hole tool is suitable.

Can I expand my existing tool set later?

Yes, this is a central principle of our system. You do not have to replace your existing set, but can expand it step by step:

  • add more tool pairs for other eyelet sizes or series,
  • add additional tools for snap fasteners or hollow rivets,
  • integrate covered buttons with matching tools.

It is important that you choose tools and consumables so that they fit your existing press and your material.

How do I care for my tools and how long do they last?

Our tools are designed for a long service life. With a few simple measures you can significantly increase their lifespan:

  • Store tools dry and clean after use,
  • do not process unsuitable materials or incorrect diameters,
  • clean contact surfaces lightly and protect against corrosion if necessary.

With proper use and a suitable combination of press, tool, and consumable, many thousands of processing cycles are possible before a tool needs replacement.

Can I use tools for manual processing and press interchangeably?

Basically, we distinguish between tools for manual processing (e.g., EasyFix, setting aids) and tools for processing in a press.

Some systems offer both variants, which are structurally different. Tools explicitly intended for the press should not be used with a hammer or improvised solutions – and vice versa.

Whether a tool is intended for hand, press, or both applications can be found in the respective product description.

Do you assist me in selecting the right tools?

Yes, gladly. If you are unsure which tools fit your project, you can contact us with the following information:

  • Type of material (e.g., fabric, leather, tarpaulin, technical textiles),
  • planned application (eyelets, snap fasteners, hollow rivets, covered buttons),
  • existing press or desired working method (manual / press).

Based on this information, we will recommend a suitable combination of consumable, tools, and if necessary, a suitable press. Contact options can be found as usual on our service pages.
